Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted on March 1, 2007.

The middle of the settlement Borovnica of today is dominated by a column - remains of the 500 meter long masonry railway viaduct, which was considered among the greatest building achievements of 19^th century. The arms of Borovnica show the former viaduct, which was destroyed in World War II.

The previous arms, which were used from 1995-2007 showed the column as well as the viaduct, see image below.

The new arms are a simplified version of the arms that were proposed around 2005, showing the viaduct and in the base a branch of canting blueberries (borovnice) as shown below
