BRAUNFELS

State : Hessen
District (Kreis) : Lahn-Dill Kreis (until 1975 Wetzlar)
Additions: 1972 Bonbaden, Neukirchen, Tiefenbach; 1974 Philippstein, Altenkirchen

Wappen von Braunfels/Arms (crest) of Braunfels
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were designed and granted in 1937 and again on October 14, 1982.

The city developed around the castle of the Counts of Solms-Braunfels. The lion is taken from the arms of the Solms family, with opposite colours in the base, to distinguish the arms of the city from those of the family.

Wappen von Braunfels/Coat of arms (crest) of Braunfels

The arms by Hupp in the Kaffee Hag albums +/- 1925
