BREJO ALEGRE

State : São Paulo

Arms (crest) of Brejo Alegre
Official blazon
Portuguese blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 11, 1997.

The golden field and the thunderbolt stand for the power and wealth generated by the Nova Avanhandava dam and power station. The base symbolises the lake behind the dam. The flaming heart and the cross are symbols of Jesus, the patron of the city. The bordure shows eight stars, representing the sacrifices of the settlers and a bright future.

The shield is surrounded by cotton and tomato branches, the main agricultural crops in the area.
