Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on February 19, 1872.

The arms are identical to the arms of the Van Grimbergen family. These arms are known since the 13^th century. The village of Brussegem historically belonged to the Grimbergen estate and thus the local council used a seal with the Grimbergen arms.
