Arms (crest) of Bunbury

Official blazon

Arms : Quarterly Vert and Or, in the first quarter a Garb of the last, in the second a Felling Axe erect proper, in the third a Miner's Pick erect also proper, and in the fourth a Potato Plant leaved flowered and eradicated Gold on a Chief wavy Azure a three masted Sailing,Ship in full sail also Gold.
Crest : On a Wreath Argent and Azure A Black Swan in pride wings elevated and addorsed proper the under side of the wing charged with a representation of the constellation of the Southern Cross Gold.
Motto: 'Nihil Sine Labore'.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on 25 September 1959.

The three masted ship, in full sail denotes the Port of Bunbury through which the products and requirements of the hinterlands are exported and imported.
The sheaf of wheat illustrates the wheat growing areas of the hinterland.
The axe and pick represent the timber and mining industry in the South West Region.
The potato bush illustrates the potato growing in the hinterland.

The crest shows a swan in pride, wings elevated bears on its outer wing the constellation of the South Cross. The swan is the symbol of Western Australia.

The Latin motto "Nihil Sine Labore" can be translated as "Nothing without Labour".
