Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 30, 1998.

The vessel pouring iron represents the traditional activity of the inhabitants in the field of metallurgy.

The wheel alludes to the products made over time by the metallurgical unit in Călan, products which were awarded the "Star of Quality" in Spain in 1992.

The wheat ears are an allusion to the use of agricultural products obtained by the inhabitants of the city, a traditional occupation, given the geographical area in which the settlement is located.

The pale refers to the Strei River, which divides the city into two parts, contributing to the revitalization of social life and the beautification of the city.
