CANADIAN FORCES PROTECTIVE SERVICES UNIT, CANADA

Coat of arms (crest) of the Canadian Forces Protective Services Unit, Canada

Official blazon

Badge: Per pale Gules and Argent a sword Or hilt in chief surmounted by an escutcheon per pale Argent and Gules charged with a coronet erablé Or.
Motto: IMPAVIDE PROTEGEMUS.

Origin/meaning

Red and white are the colours of Canada. The vertical line separating these colours symbolizes the dichotomy of the unit’s operations, which take place in night or day, in good weather or bad, discreetly or overtly, and so forth. The placement of the shield over the sword indicates that the unit’s primary responsibility is protection. The partially hidden sword refers to the ability to hide one’s identity and at the same time to show strength and deter attack. The crown of maple leaves represents service to Canada and to the persons whom the unit protects. Motto: Meaning “We protect fearlessly”. Original concept of Claire Boudreau, Chief Herald of Canada, assisted by the heralds of the Canadian Heraldic Authority.

The badge was approved on March 15, 2010.
