Origin/meaning

Red and white are the colours of Canada. The vertical line separating these colours symbolizes the dichotomy of the unit’s operations, which take place in night or day, in good weather or bad, discreetly or overtly, and so forth. The placement of the shield over the sword indicates that the unit’s primary responsibility is protection. The partially hidden sword refers to the ability to hide one’s identity and at the same time to show strength and deter attack. The crown of maple leaves represents service to Canada and to the persons whom the unit protects. Motto: Meaning “We protect fearlessly”.
