CERNAVODĂ

District/county (județ) : Constanța

Stema Cernavodă

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on January 22, 2003.

The symbol of the atom is the emblem of the activity of the Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant.

The bridge built by Anghel Saligny at the end of the 19th century represents the image-symbol of the development of the city of Cernavoda, of the union of the Dobrogea territory with the Romanian Kingdom. This bridge made the material and spiritual connection between the provinces, facilitating the incorporation of Dobrogea in the state, economic and cultural system of modern Romania.

The famous statuettes, the Thinker and his female partner, vestiges of the Eneolithic culture Hamangia, were discovered near the city, being a symbol of the perpetuation of life in these lands.
