CHICAGO

State : Illinois

Chicago.jpg

Origin/meaning :
The arms of Chicago are actually adapted from the arms of the United States. Unlike the star-covered blue canton on the flag, the chief of the shield has no stars. It may also be noted that the "stripes" are vertical pallets rather than horizontal barrulets, and that the outer "stripe" (in other words, the colour of the shield itself) is white, or argent, on the shield, while on the flag it is red.
