Origin/meaning

The arms of the city (German name Haynau) show a city with in the gate the eagle of Silezia and above the city a sun and crescent. The arms are based on the oldest known seal of the city, dating from 1300. On the seal the small eagle was placed on a shield, but since the 17th century the eagle was placed directly in the gate.
