The shield is golden and the bend blue with three Silver Towers. The bend is flanked by two black stripes. The Towers symbolises the line of the Forts Wright, Michie and Terry barring the Sound. The Black lines symbolises Iron Defenses. The Crest shows the head of a fish hawk in natural colours, this bird abounds in that vicinity. Later adopted by the 11th Coast Artillery Regiment.
