Origin/meaning

The city is named after the last Aztec ruler, Cuauhtémoc. The name means 'an eagle falling down', which is shown in the arms. The crest also shows the eagle, on the Aztec symbol for city.

The bordure shoes the name of the city and 8 horseshoes. The shield is surrounded by two cows, corn and a factory, symbolising agriculture and industry.
