Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted in August 2017.

The green V-shape is a canting element for the name of the town (the Latin cupa means basin, in the sense of valley). The green recalls the pastures and the surrounding forests.

The bridge represents the old Germanic (Franconian) bridge at Broussous. The wheel indicates the presence of several mills on the Jouvain river, which is symbolised by the blue colour.

The letters A and M are the monogram of Mary (Ave Maria), patron saint of the 12th century church.
