Origin/meaning

The church in Nový Jičín was consecrated in the 18th century by bishop Jakub of Liechtenstein. The wedge in the decanate arms is derived from the ineschucheon of the bishop's arms. The red rose is an attribute of the Virgin Mary, the patron of the decanate church. The half of a wrapped shot comes from the arms of Nový Jičín.
