Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 30, 1960.

The arms show in the upper half the local baptizing vessel(‘Taufstein’) and in the lower half a fence on a hill. The fence symbolizes the Germanic fortress, one of the largest in Northern Germany, that was erected in the area around the 3rd or 4^th century AD. The first chapel or small church was erected in Dedenhausen in the late 13^th century (it was first mentioned in 1301). The baptizing vessel dates from the early 14^th century and during the centuries most citizens have been baptized in this vessel.
