====Origin/meaning====
The arms were granted on November 14, 1977.

Dettenheim is the name of an old village, which was situated on the borders of the Rhine and which was often flooded. In 1812 Grand-Duke Karl of Baden moved the village to higher grounds. The village was then renamed Karlsdorf.

The present municipality includes the former Dettenheim village and surroundings. The arms show a horseshoe, which is taken from the arms of both Liedolsheim and Russheim, as well as from the oldest seals of the former Dettenheim. The wavy bar is the Rhine river.
