Un scut tăiat. În partea superioară, pe fond roșu, un personaj ecvestru purtând costum antic și steagul dac, un șarpe cu cap de lup, totul de aur. În partea inferioară, pe fond albastru, o cetate de argint având la dreapta soarele de aur, format dintr-o bulină centrală cu raze și la stânga semiluna de argint. Scutul este timbrat de o coroană murală de argint formată din șapte turnuri crenelate.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 27, 1999.

The statue of King Decebalus recalls the high Dacian civilization; the construction evokes the medieval fortress in whose shelter the locality developed.

The sun and the crescent signify the tumultuous life of the locality, an important administrative, economic and socio-cultural center of Hunedoara county.

The mural crown indicates that it is a county seat municipality.
