Official blazon

In Blau ein goldener Zinnenturm mit einem aufgerichteten goldenen Löwen im großen Tor und gezogenem silbernen Gitter.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1907 and confirmed in 1934.

The composition is identical to the composition on the oldest seals of the city, dating from the 15th to 18th century. The tower symbolises the city character and status of Dillenburg. The city rights were granted in 1344 by Ludwig, King of Bayern, and confirmed by the Counts of Nassau in 1597. The lion is the lion of Nassau.
