DIOCESE OF BRIDGETOWN (Dioecesis Pontipolitana)

Country : Barbados
Denomination : Roman Catholic

Established : 1970 as Diocese of Bridgetown-Kingstown
split in 1989

Arms (crest) of Diocese of Bridgetown
Official blazon
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

I have no idea when the new arms above were adopted.

The previous coat of arms of the Diocese of Bridgetown depicts a green field with a heraldic dolphin. The dolphin is from the armorial bearings of Barbados where it appears as one of the figures supporting the shield. The trident head is an image borrowed from the flag of Barbados. A similar “broken” trident appears on the flag missing it’s lower part to symbolize a break with its colonial past.
