The current arms are based on the arms adopted in 1877 when the see was established. The historical arms, see below, showed a palm tree and the arms of the [[Diocese of Winchester]], as the diocese was endowed by Winchester in 1877 and the first Bishop was from there.
 
The current arms keep the design, but with the additional dates 1877-2001 in the Burmese alphabet. The colours of the inescutcheon have been changed.
