Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on February 8, 2019.

The wavy pile refers to the local patron saint, St. Martin of Tours, who cut his cloak for a beggar. The wavy lines indicate that the village is on the watershed between the Rhine and Rhône rivers, and also refers to the La Gitte river.

The beechnuts refers to the local forests and are canting for the "- au-bois'(in the forest) part of the name. They also refer to the four villages/hamlets in the municipality; Dommartin aux Bois, Barbonfoing, Agémont and

The plums indicate the importance of orchards in the municipality.

The bridge is the local railway bridge on the railway line connecting, since 1886, Epinal to Jussey and which was closed in 1973.
