Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on February 19, 1951.

The arms are the arms of the Walckiers family, Lords of Drongen in the 18^th century. They were the last Lords of Drongen and their arms also appeared on the seal of the council. The falcons area canting element (Val(c)k is falcon in Dutch).
