Origin/meaning

The arms are based on the 18th and 19^th century seals of the city. The upper part shows the cross of the State of Trier, the lower the key of the local patron saint, St. Peter.

Older 15^th century, seals of the city show a Gothic church gate with St. Heribert with lance and shield.
