Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 4, 2020.

The elm leaf in the coat of arms is a clear canting symbol. The community is largely enclosed by pasture and arable land and forest. Elms can still be found on some roadsides today.

The ear of wheat is a symbolic reference to the surrounding vegetation as well as to the agriculture that has been practiced in the village for many years. The color green is commonly known not only as the color of nature, but also as the color of growth. Elmenhorst community has been growing steadily for many years.

The colors white and green also reflect the club colors of the local sports club "Sport-Interest-Community SIG Elmenhorst", which has been an integral part of the community since 1976.

Blue stands for loyalty. Many residents remain loyal to their village for life or come back after a while. The blue border gives the coat of arms a visual hold and symbolically supports this loyalty.
