ELVERUM

Province : Innlandet (until 2020 Hedmark)

Arms (crest) of Elverum
Official blazon
Norwegian

I rødt ei gull ugle med utslåtte vinger.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on December 9, 1988.

The arms show an owl as a symbol for wisdom. In 1940, when Norway was under attack from the German forces, King Haakon received in Elverum the power from the parliament to govern the country, in its best interests.
