Province : Oost-Vlaanderen
Incorporated into : 1976 Aalst

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on February 24, 1818 and again on September 24, 1837.

Although the image both times is identical, the arms are described as a pine branch in 1818 and as a branch of hops in 1837.

The meaning of the arms is not known, they were applied for by the local council in 1815 without explanation. The only two known historical seals of the villages showed St. Peter and a cross (15th century) or a gate with five towers (1776).
