Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on June 26, 1984.

The quartering is derived from the arms of the Hohenzollern family, Margraves of Brandenburg-Ansbach, who historically ruled the area. The two crosses represent the two Orders who had large estates and possessions in the municipality; the Teutonic Order (upper cross) and the Knights of St. John (lower cross).
