Wapen van Ertvelde/Coat of arms (crest) of Ertvelde

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on December 8, 1952.

The arms are a combination of the lion and eagle of Assenede and the arms of the Kéthulle family. The estate of Ertvelde historically belonged to territory of Assenede and the Viscounts of Gent. The last Lords of Ertvelde in the late 18th century belonged to the Kéthulle family, hence the arms of the family were combined in the arms of the municipality.

Literature: Servais, 1955
