(nl) Gedeeld, een: van goud met een valk in natuurkleur omgewend, op de twee pooten staande op eene drietoppige rots van keel uit de punt oprijzende en overtopt met eene ster met zes stralen van hetzelve; twee: van keel met een valk in natuurkleur op de twee pooten staande op een drietoppige rots van goud, uit de punt oprijzende en overtopt met eene ster met zes stralen van het zelfde (hetgeen is de Walckiers), het schild met de linkerhand gehouden voor een zittende Heiligen Vincentius met een stralenkrans omgeven en eenen schepter met eene leliebloem getopt in de rechterhand houdende, het alles van zilver.
(fr) Parti, au premier d'or au faucon au naturel, contourné, posé sur un rocher de trois coupeaux de gueules, mouvant de la pointe, et surmonté d'une étoile à six rais du même; au second de gueules au faucon au naturel posé sur un rocher de trois coupeaux d'or, mouvant de la pointe et surmonté d'une étoile à six rais du même (qui est de Walckiers), l'écu tenu de la senestre par un saint Vincent auréolé assis tenant de la dextre un sceptre fleurdelysé, le tout d'argent.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 15, 1928. The complete arms show St. Vincent as supporter behind the shield.
The arms are derived from the arms of the last Lords of Evere, the Walckiers family. In 1722 Adrie-Engel Walckiers, Lord of Drongen, acquired the estate of Evere and the family ruled the village until 1793.

The supporter is the local patron saint and also the symbol of the St. Vincent Abbey in Zinnik, which owned the village.The oldest known seal of the village, dating from 1387, shows the saint holding the shield of the Clutinck family, at the time Lords of Evere. Later seals show the saint with the arms of Borssele.
