FARIDKOT SAPPERS AND MINERS, FARIDKOT

History: raised in 1900 by amalgamating two companies of Faridkot Imperial Service Infantry. During World War I it served in East Africa. during the 3rd Afghan War in 1919 it constructed defence lines and repaired roads between the Landikotal and Durand Line. Reorganised under the Indian State Forces Scheme in 1923, and in 1938 the Unit was named Faridikot Sappers and Miners. During World War II it served in Burma, Jammu and Kashmir.
