Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on February 19, 1960 to Florø and again on October 6, 1967.

The three herrings are a symbol for the great importance of herring fishing for the local development and economy. In 1860 Flora received a type of herring landing and processing rights, and the arms were adopted at the 100th anniversary of this occasion.
