Origin/meaning

The shell is the emblem of the pilgrims of St. James and refers to the fact that Fontannes was located on the old Roman road leading to Santiago de Compostela.

The second quarter refers to Saint Eutrope, Saint Patron of Fontannes. The anchor symbolizes the important shipping port that existed in Fontannes.
