FRANZ JOSEPH RUDIGIER

Born : April 7, 1811
Deceased : November 29, 1884

Bishop of Linz, 1853-1884

Arms (crest) of Franz Joseph Rudigier

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms show the arms of the diocese impaled with the personal arms of the bishop.

The upper half of the personal arms refers to St. Mary. The five besants in a Christian cross, are 'Patenen' (small dishes to serve the host in church) and are canting for the village of Parthenen where he was born.

The round shield with the text Quis ut Deus refer to St. Michael, patron saint of the village of Gaschurn, where the bishop was baptised as a baby.
