Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on December 10, 1975.

The ibex is taken from the arms of Rupert von Bodman (1687-1728), Abbot of the Kempten Abbey, to which the village belonged for a long time. Previously the village was part of the State of Augsburg, which is shown by the silver and red divided left half. The tool is an axe used for clearing the forests and is a canting element (Roden=to clear a forest, ried is derived from roden).
