Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 9, 1997.

The quartered shield is the arms of the Hohenzollern family, Margraves of Brandenburg, as the area was part of Brandenburg since 1440. The second quarter shows part of the arms of the Von Wedell family, former Lords of the area 600a.wsa.jpg.

The three linden leaves are taken from the arms of the Lindenberg family who lived on the Tornow estate for over a century. The three leaves also symbolise the three villages in the municipality.
