Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on January 14, 1998.

The arms are based on the symbols on the seals of the two former municipalities. The seal of Kleinrettbach showed the Siebgenquelle springs, which is symbolised by the waves in the lower part of the shield. The Rettbach stream originates from these springs.
The seal of Gamstädt showed a violin (or Gambe in the local dialect), making the arms canting.
