Official blazon
In Blau die silberne unbekleidete Glücksgöttin Fortuna mit goldenen Haaren, die mit dem rechten Fuß auf einer goldenen Kugel steht und mit beiden Händen ein vom Wind geblähtes Segel hält.
Origin/meaning
The arms were already granted on March 22, 1617 when the town was founded by the Danish King Christian IV. The female figure symbolises luck, making it a canting symbol (Glück=luck). Even though the size and shape of the figure have changed widely during the centuries, the arms basically did not change.
