Origin/meaning
The arms were already granted on March 22, 1617 when the town was founded by the Danish King Christian IV. The female figure symbolises luck, making it a canting symbol (Glück=luck). Even though the size and shape of the figure have changed widely during the centuries, the arms basically did not change.
