Wapen van Glabbeek

Official blazon

In vair een vrijkwartier van goud met drie hellende klophamers van keel.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on February 2, 1982.

The arms are those of the Van Houthem family. In 1488 the estate of Sint-Margriete-Houtem was promoted to a Barony by Emperor Frederic III for Jan van Houthem, chancellor of Brabant. The arms appear on the seal of the barony from 1509 and 1512.

As Bunsbeek also belonged to the barony, most of the current municiaplity could be represented by the arms of the Van Houthem family.
