GOLDENSTEDT

State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Vechta
Additions : 1972 Lutten

Wappen von Goldenstedt/Arms (crest) of Goldenstedt
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were first granted in 1936 and slightly changed in 1951.

The axe symbolises the former medieval wood-court Sutholte in the municipality. The coins symbolise the legendary origin of the village. During a visit by Countess Margaretha of Diepholz she threw golden coins to the local farmers when crossing the local bridge. The bridge was later named Golden Bridge and the village Goldenstedt (or place of gold).

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
