Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on August 4, 1998.

The arms are based on the old seal of the village, which showed a rooster on a hill. The meaning is not quite clear, but the rooster probably signifies vigilance. In 1938 two trees were added on the local seal. These refer to the local forests and the Thüringer Wald. The wavy bend was added later for the many rivers and streams in the municipality.
