Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 29, 1952.

The arms show the two salmon of the arms of the Counts of Salm, as the are historically was part of the Salm county. To distinguish the arms from those of Vielsalm, the local patron saint, St. Lawrence, was added.
