Arms (crest) of Grenaa

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1938.

The arms date from the early 14th century and are based on a seal from that time. The arms show a bridge over the Dyrså or Gren Å, river. On each side of the bridge there is a church, symbolising the local church and an older chapel. The moon and crescent are typical Christian symbols of the era.
