Origin/meaning
The chief recalls the situation of the Village of Grenville near the waters of the Ottawa River and the fleur-de-lis symbolizes the Francophone element of the population.
The cross, in addition to representing the English-speaking element, originates from the coat of arms of Lord Grenville, the English statesman who gave his name to the village.
The cannon placed in the center highlights the Grenville military origin at the head of the Long-Sault Canal. The other elements refer to the industries in the village. The fir tree is reminiscent of the wood industry. The Dansereau sawmills, have long been the main sources of income for the community. The Arnold farms, represented by horseshoes, remind us of horses and slaughterhouses. The pick axe symbolizes the mining industry of magnesite. The other industries are grouped under the sign of the cogwheel.
The motto Uni Aequus Virtuti means " Nothing less than the virtue " or " Nothing less than the excellence " translation drawn from the work of Horace the Satyrs."
