State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Steinfurt (until 1975 Münster)
Amt : Amt Greven
Incorporated into : 1952 Greven

Wappen von Greven rechts der Ems/Arms (crest) of Greven rechts der Ems
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 24, 1939.

The chevron is taken from the medieval Von Bönstrup family, which originated from the municipality, but became ectinct in the 15th century. The blue left half and the division line refer to the Ems river. As no colours were known for the family arms, the colours of Amt Greven were chosen.
