Official blazon

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: On a vertical rectangle, arched convexly at top and bottom divided diagonally from upper right to lower left orange over brown and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border, three 1/8 inch (.32 cm) diagonal bands from upper right to lower left, brown over orange over white. Overall a black shield edged with a narrow white border charged with an orange demi-tiger affronté detailed black, armed and eyed white, its sinister paw extending beyond the shield to lower right. Above the shield a brown arched scroll inscribed “GRISSOM”.

Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height consisting of a brown shield bearing a gold tiger head, overlapping the base of the shield a gold scroll inscribed “ID FACERE POSSUMUS” in brown letters.

Origin/meaning

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: Brown, orange and white are the school colors. The tiger is the school mascot.

Shoulder Loop Insignia: The tiger is the school mascot and reflects the strength and swiftness of the cadets in their academic and athletic endeavors.

The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia and Shoulder Loop Insignia was both approved on 17 April 1996.
