GROSSWEIER

State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Ortenaukreis (until 1972 Bühl)
Incorporated into : 1972 Achern

Grosswei.jpg

Official blazon

In geteiltem Schild oben ein wachsender roter Löwe, unten ein gegittertes blaues Feld.

Origin/meaning

Grossweier had already in the 15th century its own council. The council used a seal with the arms of the Lords of Grossweier, similar to the arms above. Later seals all show the same arms. The grid lines in the lower part appear in the 18th century. The arms were officially granted in June 1900, when the municipality needed a new seal.
