HMCS VILLE DE QUEBEC, ROYAL CANADIAN NAVY
Official blazon
Badge: Azure upon a base wavy Argent charged with two bars wavy Azure a three-masted ship Or.
Motto: DON DE DIEU FERAY VALOIR.
Origin/meaning
The central device is derived from the arms of the City of Quebec. The ship represents the founding of Quebec in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain and the subsequent establishment of Quebec as an important port. The Motto meaning “I will put the gift of God to good use”, alludes to the name of Champlain’s ship, the Don de Dieu, and is the motto of the City of Quebec.
The Blazon of the Badge was confirmed by the Canadian Heraldic Authority on December 15, 2008.
