HAAGEN

State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Lörrach
Incorporated into : 1973 Lörrach

Haagen.jpg

Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on October 8, 1963.

The arms are a combination of the arms of the Lords of Rötteln, who originated from a castle in the municipality. The castle was destroyed in 1678. As the village for a long time was part of the Rötteln Estate, the arms were incorporate din the municipal arms. The fish was the historical village sign of Haagen and is probably derived from the fact that salmon hunting was a local privilege.

The above arms replaced arms granted in 1908.
These arms showed in the first half the red bend of the State of Baden and in the second half a canting thornbush (Haage=fence).
