Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on August 2, 1950.

The arms are derived from the arms of the medieval Lords and Counts of Alten. Several branches of this family had their estate or other possessions in the municipality. The difference with the family arms is that the family uses the diamonds as a bend and not as a bar.
